John Deere Cornhead RowMax Chopping Stalk Rolls
Producers have asked for stalk rolls to appropriately size residue for their operation while managing power and overall header weight. John Deere offers a variety of RowMax Stalk Rolls to address producer needs around residue, power, and weight for their front-end equipment. Three stalk roll options allow producers to select the appropriate length of corn stalk residue.
Benefits (RowMax Chopping Stalk Rolls only)
- 30 percent longer wear life, 7 percent less power, and 25 percent reduction in trash intake into the combine compared to the Calmer® BT Chopper® system. RowMax Stalk Rolls also improve wear life by 30 percent compared to the base stalk rolls on the previous 600C model.
- Size 50 percent of the residue less than 6-in. (15.2-cm) long to speed up breakdown and burial without washing or blowing away in the field. For producers who choose to till their ground, smaller stalks can be easily incorporated into the soil for a more efficient pass in the field during tillage.
- Drop residue directly on top of the row to reduce the potential of hair pining during planting by preventing residue from entering the bottom of the seed trench (no-till producer benefit)
- Explode the top of the stalk for reduced tire damage on the combine as well as all other wheels that may be going through the field (planters, grain carts, tillage, etc.). An exploded stalk creates additional exposure to the environment to speed up decomposition and breakdown of the stalk.
