The updated 3-cylinder 5E Tractor lineup now consists of the 5045E, 5055E, 5065E, and 5075E, offering two-wheel drive (2WD) and mechanical front-wheel drive (MFWD) configurations. The 5055E, 5065E, and 5075E models offer two transmissions — the 9 forward/3 reverse (9F/3R) top shaft synchronized (TSS) transmission or a more premium 12F/12R PowrReverser™ transmission. These transmission options are available on the open station and the cab versions.
The 5045E 2WD and 5055E 2WD Tractors replace the 5045D and 5055D Tractors.

= New configurations for model year 2015
New styling
The 3-cylinder 5E Tractors are Final Tier 4 (FT4) compliant and updated with the John Deere family look, providing easy family identification. New hood styling along with chrome headlight bezels and round fenders are now in sync with the rest of the 5000 Tractor family.
FT4 engine
Utilizing a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF), the 3-cylinder 5E Tractors now meet Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) FT4 emissions compliance. The DOC/DPF system allows the operator to maximize productivity and uptime with an easy-to-use operator interface.
Improved operator station comfort
The open station tractors now include an improved covered platform to ensure debris does not settle on the operator or platform.

To further enhance operator comfort, tilt steering will be standard on the open station tractors with 12F/12R PowrReverser transmission.
In addition, tilt and telescopic steering will be standard on all cab models.
