The S-Series Combines include multiple customer-driven enhancements.
New styling New cab Feederhouse structure improvements Rotor options Cleaning shoe performance enhancements Grain tank structure improvements Grain handling enhancements Residue management options
These new enhancements, along with new emission compliance and technology
delivered by the John Deere PowerTech™ PSX engine (Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB
emissions certification), resulted in a nominal weight increase across the S660,
S670, S680, and S690 Combines. On average, the S670 weighs approximately
1400 kg (3000 lb) or 7 percent more than the 9770 STS. The additional weight to
the S670 Combine is due to the following changes:
- New, larger cab. This feature provides excellent operator
visibility. In addition, a heavier cab and ladder landing structure was
incorporated into the design of the machine to support the new cab.
- Improved feederhouse structure. Feederhouse structure
improvements were made to enable customers to run the new generation of
high-capacity front-end equipment.
- Chassis and rear axle enhancements. Chassis and rear axle
enhancements were made to handle the additional weight associated with the grain
tank structure and the Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB engine platform.
- PowerTech™ PSX engine. Engine deck
structure improvements were made to enable Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB emissions
compliance and make possible ease of access and service to the engine deck area.
- Heavier load rating tires. The heavier load rating tires
enable the combines to handle the new generation of high-capacity front-end
equipment.
- Enhanced cleaning shoe. The S670 has a larger cleaning shoe
area (chaffer and sieve area) to help deliver up to a 15 percent increase in
cleaning capacity over the 9770STS. In addition to the larger cleaning shoe
area, S-Series Combines have an isochronous governor which keeps shoe speeds
constant, enhancing cleaning shoe and overall machine performance.
With these updates, the S670 offers a matched solution to the new
generation of high-capacity front-end equipment from the feederhouse to the
residue management package.
