M & R SERIES COMMERCIAL WALK-BEHIND MOWERS
When it comes to the controls on the M & R Series professional walk-behind mowers, your hands were what we thought of first. That's what led us to design a control layout that your hands are really going to enjoy.
HIGHLIGHTS
52-inch (132-cm) floating mower deck
Powerful 19 hp (14.2 kW) V-twin engine
Self-propelled hydrostatic drive system
Easy-to-use controls for operator comfort and convenience
ITS IN YOUR HANDS
Your hands. When it comes to the controls on our new John Deere M and R series walk-behind mowers, your hands were what we thought of first. Because if your hands arent satisfied, you wont be either. From the start, the goal was simple: improve operator comfort and productivity. And so we made sure the proximity of one control to another was just right. Also hand position for minimum fatigue was another consideration. Lastly, we made sure that the control grips were designed with recessed OPC levers providing a smooth contour that wont dig into your hands during operation.
GOODBYE GEAR, HELLO HYDROSTATIC
Both the M & R Series feature hydrostatic drive systems that provide positive reverse for more power and smoother operation. The infinite ground speed adjustments on both units enables a smoother transition from one speed to another. And a reverse speed of 3 miles per hour (4.8 km/h) allows operators to back out of tight mowing spots quickly.
The M and R Series both feature a thoughtful design that promotes safe operation. Before the engine will start, the transmission speed lever must be in neutral, the parking brake set, the PTO disengaged and the key switch turned to on.
Both the M and R Series feature engines with a V-Twin design for smooth operation and fast starts. The aluminum engine block with cast-iron cylinder liners dissipates heat quickly. And the overhead valve design has:
More horsepower and torque per cubic inch of displacement
Better fuel efficiency
Less oil consumption
And a cooler operating temperature
Both the M and R Series are equipped with high quality fabricated decks, with 10-gauge (0.14 in./3.42mm) steel deck top plate, plus a 10-gauge (0.14 in./3.42mm) spindle reinforcement plate for added strength, and 7-gauge (0.19 in./4.8mm) side skirts with a reinforcement bar. All decks feature a floating suspension for the best possible cut. A deep deck design for more mowing capacity. And side and center anti-scalp wheels for smoother mowing.
FEATURES
Greater Maneuverability is the result of responsive, ergonomic controls.
Yoke and caster wheels are made of solid construction for long life. Also, the caster wheels are set close to the blades for better ground following capability.
With ground speeds up to 20% faster than the previous generation, youll be cutting more acres with the M and R Series. The M Series features recoil start and transport speeds up to 6.5 mph (10.5 km/h). And the R Series has an electric start and transport speeds up to 7.5 mph (12.1 km/h). Speed walking indeed.
And for sheer curb climbing ability, our four R Series walk behinds are built with 8 and a half inches (21.6 cm) of frame clearance and positive reverse performance bringing even the most daunting curbs to their knees. No more scuffed or chipped curbs. And no more damage to the mower.
Better weight distribution means better operation. We significantly improved the weight distribution on the M & R series to help operators on mowing slopes or tricky side-hills. Combine with our easy-to-use controls, and operators can hold the line on hillsides.
