John Deere 6115M Series Tractors feature the reliable and proven PowerTech PVX engines.
These air-to-air aspirated engines deliver constant power over a wide range of engine revolutions per minute (rpm) with a power bulge above rated power to provide good torque in demanding applications.
- Engines deliver a constant power range of percent with a power bulge of percent.
- High-pressure common rail (HPCR) fuel injection system and other key engine parts work together to sense engine load and then instantly respond as needed to pull through tough soil conditions.
- Engine rpm fluctuations are reduced to minimize the need to downshift the transmission.
- Fewer shifts result in less ground-speed variations, providing higher overall tractor productivity.
- To match the engine power characteristics and improve economy of operation, the rated engine speed is 2100 rpm.
The engine is an integrated part of the full-frame concept. The engine is connected to the frame using vibration-absorbing isolators. Further vibration reduction is achieved by utilizing a heavy-duty torsional damper in the Cardan shaft, coupling the flywheel to the clutch housing. This technique:
- Eliminates engine block stress, because the engine is no longer a structural part of the tractor.
- Reduces noise and vibration transfer to other tractor components.
John Deere 6M Series Tractors feature the reliable and proven PowerTech™ PVX 4.5-L or PowerTech PVX 6.8-L engine depending on model.
These Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB emission-compliant air-to-air aspiration engines deliver constant power over a wide range of rotations per minute (rpm) with a power bulge above rated power and excellent torque characteristics.

Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB emission regulations require a reduction in oxides of nitrogen (NOx) coming from the exhaust. NOx is formed by high-combustion temperatures in the cylinders as the air/fuel mixture is burned.
How exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) works
EGR reduces the high temperatures where these compounds are formed in the engine cylinders by replacing excess oxygen with a prescribed amount of cooled exhaust gas.
Exhaust gases contain more carbon dioxide than oxygen. The EGR valve, in conjunction with the venturi, and engine control unit (ECU) allow a controlled amount of exhaust gas to enter the intake manifold to mix with the incoming fresh air.
Replacing excess oxygen with cooled exhaust gas leads to:
- Lower combustion temperatures, creating less NOx.
In addition, EGR allows for:
- Advanced timing
- Leading to optimal performance of the engine
- Maximizing fuel economy

For added performance and efficiency, the engine passes the exhaust gases through an EGR cooler before it enters the engine.
The 6115M Series Tractors feature the proven PFC hydraulic system with variable pressure up to 200 bar (2900 psi).

Pressure for the entire system is established by the function requiring the highest pressure. As demand lessens, so does hydraulic pump pressure and engine power requirements.

High-capacity hydraulic pump
The hydraulic pump is located close to the hitch valve and selective control valves (SCVs), allowing:
- Fewer and shorter lines
- Quick system response times
- Minimized energy losses
For 6150M and 6170M, the 114-L/min (30.1-gpm) pump is base equipment.
Essential services have priority
The priority valve ensures, even at low idle engine speed, full power to the essential services like:
Hydraulic and transmission systems are functionally separate; however, both systems utilize a common reservoir for easy serviceability.
- 35 ccm pump (80 L/min) is base equipment for 6110M-6145M.
- 35 ccm pump (80 L/min) is not available for 6155M-6195M models.
- 45 ccm pump (114 L/min) is available for all models (including OOS) and base equipment for 6155M-6195M.
- The 45 ccm pump is required with cold start package II (code 8301).
The 6115M Series Cab Tractors provide room and great visibility, making row-crop and loader work easier while protecting the operator from environmental discomfort.
